10 things i can never forget about my 1st school - II

If You have not read my previous post : The first 5 were listed here ..

Continuing ..

6- "SUMMER BABU SIR" - Yes !! thats how teachers name were. Jeevan Babu Sir , Shankar Babu Sir Tushaar Babu Sir , Kamal Babu sir , Gopla Babu sir .. But the most EPIC , UNFORGETTABLE , SCARY  [ and what not ] of all was him.. The SUMMER BABU SIR. Whenever he shouted , entire school to came to a stand still. Such was his aura that kids from all the classes were dead scared to even look at him and have an eye to eye contact. I remember one i had got caught while cheating , in 8th standard , the invigilator took my answer sheet and refused to give it back. It was all calm till he told me "I am gonna give this cheat paper to SUMMER BABU SIR along with this incomplete answer sheet". Tears started flowing , as though someone opened the Dam-Gate of Bhakra Nangal Dam. Your career at Ram Krishna Mission [RKMV] is over if you are caught red-handed and the information reaches SUMMER BABU. People would stop playing cricket and leave the bats and wickets right there if he came in the sight of the students. They would Literally shiver , such was this man's hold on the entire school.
The great man is though no more with us :( it was mainly because of him kids learnt the meaning of Discipline and Manners at RKMV.

7."CRICKET" - I do not know how many of you remember those hard plastic balls we used to get in late 1990s. One of the famous ones used by us at RKMV was an Orange and White striped ball hard plastic ball. yea the colour of that ball never changed. We were not allowed to get Cricket Bats in school , so we used to play with Wood. Students like me , who used to reach school an hour before the scheduled start would around the park in search of a long thick wooden plank which could be used as a bat. And every day after the end of the play , One of the most difficult tasks of those days was to hide that plank at such a place , so that its only our team who gets that next morning. Watte difficult task i say !! :P

8."NandLaal Bhaiya" - The guy who always put a smile on the entire school. So the school had an awesome way of letting us know about the holidays. Management would send Nand Laal Bhaiya to each and every class with a big holiday Register in his hand , that would contain the notice. Each teacher in the class would read that out aloud to let us know. So basically the sight of NanLaal Bhaiya with a register in his hand even 50 metres away would send a wave a joy across all of us. By the Time he entered in the class to let us know about the holiday , we would have already selected the Playing 11 for the game of cricket. ha ha !! Yea , for every holiday there used to a cricket match pre-scheduled between Section A and Section B [Obvious way to celebrate a holiday]. A Cricket match was all some of us needed always , anytime , anyhow , anyway , anywhere with anybody !! No Exaggeration :)

9."PEN FIGHT" - This all started once we all matured and there was nothing much to do during lunch breaks after we entered VIth standard and were moved to a separate building , ONLY BOYS building.. :(
So the Fashion was to move girls to a separate school altogether after 5th standard. Till Vth Co-education after that "akele hum , akele tum" :P So basically bird watching was no more a time pass. We had to find something and find it soon. In came the Pen Fights. People would literally get special pens for the fight. A FOUNTAIN pen was the favourite and most sought after. Reynolds Jetter was considered to be a strong opposition. We were so crazy that , we would even have fixtures for it.Interested ppl were divided into two groups !! and these league matches would be played on benches.. and winner from each ground would play the GRAND FINALE would take place on Teacher's Table.. Bigger Game , Bigger Ground , Bigger Crowd , Bigger Fight and Bigger Craze.. Aaah those crazy days.. !!!

10."PICKING UP LEAVES" - The Principal would be called Maharj Jee there.. and the trend was to touch his feet and greet him each time you come across him in a day :) The rules set by him were weird and crazy and yet amazing. So if anyone is late for the assembly , his punishments for them were irritating. There were few basic rules. haha ..
If u are late .
Do not walk and try to be smart by joining the assembly queue. Just stand still and recite the prayers right at the entrance of the ground where assembly used to take place.
Once the assembly is over and when u see all ur seniors juniors batchmates going to the class , you keep ur bag aside and start picking up the fallen leaves from teh ground and put them in the dustbin.
and no need to worry , you always would have the company of the other late comers too :)
God help u , if u are the alone late comer some day :) The entire Ground is yours baby ..

The school had many many many many other memorable moments..
-Like the amazing sports days , having three-leg race , Sppon and the marble race ,Mathematics race and Biscuit race..
-Moments like Shutting all your holes and walkk in the queue and spend an entire hour in library . yea can u believe that Library hour was a compulsary hour.. mentioned in time table and to be followed strictly..
-Moments like saving your lunch box to be eaten in the bus while going back home.. things like going and grabbing the last row in the bus and then doing arm wrestling and fighting till ur stop comes..
-Moments like going on stage right from std II , III days.. wearing half Pants and nerdy specs and giving sppeches on Swami Vivekananda and Ramkrishna Paramhans..
-Moments like participating in Hindi/english Recitation competition and handwritting competition..
-Moments like going and attending NCC training even when not being part of it , would get u Samosas and Jalebis :)
-Moments like going and picking up White Jamuns from the ground as and when a heavy shower would make them fall from the huge tree..Oh yes that special White Jamun Tree which i have only seen in my school ever gave us some Utterly Tasty and sweet white jamuns :) :)
And the list can go on and on and on... My RKMV batchmates might wanna add some :) comment section is all Yours !!! Non-Rkmv people might have got bored reading completely non-related stuffs !! My sincere applogies :) He he..
